The Whitehill Trust was formed in 2009, rising out of the ashes of Whitehill House, a residential alcohol rehabilitation unit on the outskirts of Peterhead. The unit offered residential care for 13 residents plus day care services for another 10 clients which included counselling, education, and group work.
Being an older type of house, it latterly proved too expensive to run, and closed in 2005 after serving the community for over 20 years. The house was sold in May 2006 and the income derived from the sale was invested.
After much research and consultation, the Board Members of Whitehill House, decided to set up a Trust, using the income from the investment to offer grants to enable others to continue their work of addressing alcohol misuse.
